​Healthy Mind, Healthy Body


​Coping with life can be challenging and your emotional health is an important part of your overall health. Our physical and emotional health are invariably linked and often when our emotions are not in check, physical illness can manifest. Developing proper coping skills to manage your stress, sadness or anger is imperative.
​
  1. Edify yourself every day – give yourself the TLC you need and nurture yourself
  2. Have compassion for yourself
  3. Physical exercise is a vital aspect in the reduction of stress as well as improving your physical and mental health
  4. Tell yourself something positive daily
  5. Learn a new skill or hobby  
  6. Read something for enjoyment
  7. Take a walk when you feel stressed
  8. Help your brain relax by doing yoga, reiki or breathing techniques
  9. Know thyself – learn to identify your triggers
  10. Get enough rest - try to sleep at least 6 - 8 hours within a 24 hour period
 
When you feel out of sorts, down or overwhelmed, take a breather. Seek help from family or friends or find a support group. If your situation is too much for you to handle alone, seek the help of a physician or a professional counselor.
